POLICE DONATE CYCLES TO CHARITY

Greater Manchester Police's Trafford Division has donated ten pedal cycles to a local charity.

blueSCI will use the bikes in forthcoming cycle riding and cycle maintenance classes, which form part of their programme for promoting and enabling good mental health.

The cycles are a mixture of found and seized cycles that have not been reclaimed by the original owners within an allocated period of time.

Chief Superintendent Janette McCormick of Greater Manchester Police's Trafford Division said: "these bikes have not been claimed so, rather than have them gather dust, we decided it would be better if they were donated to a worthy local cause such as blueSCI."

"it is another good example of the benefits of partnership working."

Bike ride out blog
10th August 2009

The first group bike ride was a success with all making it round and down the pathway by the River Mersey safely. This wasn't without its slips on the way though, with the 2 group leaders both falling off their bikes and in one case crashing into a parked van. No one was hurt and no damage was caused though! Although tiring for many, we all enjoyed ourselves and some saying they felt really good afterwards. Paul
