Social Prescribing
There is a lot of talk around Social Prescribing and people can get confused about what it is. In fact it is very simple; Social Prescribing is a way of GPs’ and others connecting individuals into local community wellbeing activities that provide health benefits.
These may be any of the following:
- Friendship Groups in community groups/organisations
- Lifestyle changes (diet & exercise, health checks, Access to IT, Green space, cycle paths)
- Debt & benefits
- Practical help (Problem solving)
- Motivational support and personal planning
Partington is fortunate in that the Library and Wellbeing Centre is attached to the GP surgery and their Social Prescribing workers are fully integrated with the library and wellbeing service.
