Community Enhanced Social Prescribing Research Project

Between 2022 and 2024, Bluesci were part of a research study with the University of York, looking into Community Enhanced Social Prescribing. This model combines ‘social prescribing’ (a mental health intervention which links people up to their local community) with community building.

As part of the project, we set up a “community panel” of 12 local people, who map what is available in the Sale area. This can be anything which contributes to people’s wellbeing (walks, activities, meeting places, places of worship, neighbourhood groups, and so on). The map is now used by social prescribers, and is available to all local residents.

Alongside the community panel we created a “partners panel” of professionals from the local authority, local charities, and other organisations. The partners panel supported the community panel to make changes in their local community, if any gaps are identified during the mapping process.

Following the Research project’s end, The Community Panel constituted as their own community group and continue the work to link Trafford residents to resources and activities in their area. If you want more information, you can contact the panel at cespcommunitypanel@gmail.com.
