Work Well

Work Well

Support to help you stay in work, return to work, or explore your next steps

Work can be an important part of our wellbeing, but sometimes physical or mental health challenges can make it harder to stay in work or think about returning after a period away. Through the WorkWell Trafford programme, we are offering free, personalised support to Trafford residents whose health is affecting their ability to work. WorkWell Trafford is a partnership between Trafford Council, NHS Greater Manchester, community organisations and local Trafford Community Hubs.

Whether you’re currently employed, off sick from work, or recently unemployed due to a health condition, our Wellbeing Practitioner, Ibi, can work alongside you to understand your situation and identify the support that may help.

How we can help

We can provide one-to-one support in a way that works for you, including face-to-face meetings, telephone appointments, or online support.

  • Explore your strengths, goals and aspirations
  • Help you manage challenges affecting your ability to work
  • Create a personalised plan to support your next steps
  • Support you to remain in work where possible
  • Help you prepare for a return to work
  • Connect you with wellbeing, health and community services
  • Identify volunteering, training or development opportunities
  • Advocate with employers where appropriate
  • Provide practical advice, encouragement and ongoing support throughout your journey.

Who can access WorkWell?

You may be able to access the service if you:

  • Are aged 18 or over
  • Live in Trafford or are registered with a Trafford GP
  • Are currently in work but finding it difficult because of your health
  • Are off sick from work
  • Have recently become unemployed due to a physical health or mental health condition.

What to expect

The support starts with a conversation about what’s important to you and what challenges you’re facing. We’ll work with you to understand your circumstances and create a plan that reflects your goals.

There is no pressure and no judgement. Our role is to help you identify practical steps, connect with the right support, and build confidence in moving forward at a pace that feels right for you.
