BlueSci is excited to announce our upcoming Volunteer Fair, taking place on Monday 23 March 2026, from 3pm to 5pm at the Coppice Library and Wellbeing Centre. Run in collaboration with our partners Our Sale West, this event is the perfect opportunity for anyone interested in giving back to the community, learning new skills, or exploring how volunteering can support personal growth and wellbeing.
Local organisations from across the area will be attending, each offering a variety of rewarding volunteer opportunities. Whether you’re new to volunteering or looking to take on a new challenge, you’ll have the chance to:
- Meet organisations currently recruiting volunteers
- Receive information and guidance on employability skills
- Discuss the benefits of volunteering, both for the community and for your own wellbeing
BlueSci staff will also be on hand to offer information about our services and how volunteers play a vital role in helping us support people across the community.

Why Volunteering Matters for Mental Health and Wellbeing
Volunteering isn’t just about giving your time—it can have a powerful and positive impact on mental health. Research shows that taking part in community activities can help people of all ages to feel more connected, confident, and fulfilled.
Some key wellbeing benefits include:
1. Building Social Connections
Volunteering helps reduce feelings of isolation by bringing people together. Meeting new people and forming meaningful relationships can improve mood, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging.
2. Improving Mental Clarity and Reducing Stress
Structured volunteering provides routine, purpose, and focus. Engaging in helpful activity can ease stress and support emotional resilience by shifting attention away from daily pressures.
3. Boosting Confidence and Personal Growth
Learning new skills, contributing to a shared goal, and being recognised for your efforts all help build confidence. This sense of achievement enhances overall wellbeing and encourages further personal development.
4. Enhancing a Sense of Purpose
Having a role that positively impacts others is strongly linked to better emotional health. Feeling useful and valued strengthens motivation and overall life satisfaction.
