No Smoking Day takes place next Wednesday, 11 March 2026. It happens every year on the second Wednesday of March and encourages people across the UK to think about quitting smoking.
Quitting smoking has huge benefits. Your heart rate and blood pressure start to improve within 20 minutes, and your lungs begin to recover over the following weeks. Many people also notice improvements in their mood and overall wellbeing.
Why No Smoking Day Matters
Stopping smoking isn’t easy, but No Smoking Day is designed to give people a boost and make that first step feel more achievable. With the right help, people are up to three times more likely to quit successfully than if they try on their own.
Even trying to stop for a single day can be an important first step toward quitting for good.
